James Long
Director of Active Threat Training
James Long is an Army National Guard veteran and current law enforcement officer with over 17 years of experience, including more than a decade as a patrol officer and over five years as a detective. He has responded to everything from routine citizen assists to life-threatening incidents, including gunfire from fleeing bank robbery suspects.
James holds advanced training and certifications directly relevant to 6:8’s mission, including Active Shooter/Threat Instructor Training and the Active Shooter Threat Training Program (Department of Homeland Security), U.S. Secret Service/FBI JTTF Anti-Terrorism Training, Advanced & Basic Crisis Negotiation (FBI, Phoenix Police Department SAU), Critical Incident Stress Management (ICISF/UMBC), Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training, Mass Casualty & School Bomb Incident Preparedness, and BLS Healthcare Provider CPR/Heartsaver First Aid.
For James, the mission is personal. Years of responding to school safety concerns and critical incidents have fueled his passion for bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community to protect innocent lives.
